Stage 6 units

Starter activities ●
This unit focuses on securing recall of:
[a] additive facts for numbers from 5-10 scaled by 10, 100, one-tenth and one-hundredth
[b] additive facts that bridge 10 scaled by 10, 100, one-tenth and one-hundredth
[c] multiplication and division facts from Year 2 - Year 4 (all × tables).
Unit 1 ●
This unit focuses on securing recall of additive facts for 11-18, including when scaled by ten, one hundred and one-tenth.
It also focuses on recall of multiplicative facts. Links are made to a range of maths topics including statistics, measures and algebra.
Unit 2 ●
During Stage 4, children developed fluency in four core methods for addition and three for subtraction. The numbers involved were whole numbers less than 1,000. The methods from Stage 4 are now revisited, using decimals and fractions.
NB If children are not secure with the methods, re-teach lessons 1 - 4 from Stage 4,
Unit 2.
Unit 3 ●
During Stage 5, children developed fluency in core methods for multiplication and division. They continue to use these methods, combined with scaling, to multiply decimal numbers.
Methods for multiplication
[1] partitioning the first factor; [2] using factors; [3] relationships; [4] compensation.
Methods for division
[1] partitioning the dividend; [2] using factors; [3] relationships; [4] compensation.
Unit 4 ●
The arithmetic revision programme aims to revise number facts and arithmetic in a structured manner.
