New lessons have been added to Stage 3, Unit 3: Develop fluency in 4, 8 and 3 × tables and related division facts.
In the first of the new lessons, children use Cuisenaire rods to make the edges of arrays. They then state multiplicative facts linked to the arrays.
They also explore the relationship when one factor stays the same and the other is multiplied. For example:
4 × 3 = 12
8 × 3 = 24
The second of the new lessons also involves making arrays.
This time the relationship explored is what happens to the product when one factor is multiplied by x and the other divided by x.
